It’s finally the weekend, which means serious fishing time. The Pokémon here are too smart for my fish traps so I’m doing it the old-fashioned way… With some minor upgrades, that is. All my training has led up to this. My Super Ultra Mega Rods are completely and utterly inescapable. The line is invisible. The hook is imperceptible. The rod is indestructible, and I am indomitable.

The fishing experience is really made by having time alone with your thoughts, so I thought I’d live blog it today and keep a record of what goes on in my head when it’s quiet and I have no one else to talk to but myself. My melodious voice will lure in every last fish in the river. I’ll have enough for a fish fry by noon!

Okay, so I just got to the dock. Got my rods, got my tackle and the bait. It was actually a lot to carry. Maybe that’s why I always see people walking around with tons of Pokémon all the time. Make them do the work, amiright? Actually, I should look into catching one from the mines for the shop. You can get them as business assistants, and that would be really handy. Especially in times like this! Man, I wish I could’ve brought my car to these islands. It would help even if I had a little wagon or something. My noodle arms weren’t meant for this. Everyone just rides Pokémon around here though. Not surprising considering what I just mentioned earlier.

I think this’ll be a good spot. There’s plenty of shade for the fish to hide in from the sun, but it’s also clear enough that my lines shouldn’t get caught on anything in the water. Lemme just set them up here… Prop this one up like this, and this one over there… Bingo! That’s all there is to it! Those fish aren’t going anywhere once they bite, so I’ll have plenty of time to hop over and help reel it in if I do get a bite on one of these spares. In fact, they’ll probably be able to reel stuff in on their own with the little motor I installed, but I’m here as a backup in case of any system failures.

Guess I’m ready to cast out my own line now. Gonna set this down quick – there. Just gotta wait now.

Those fishies better be hungry, cause I got a lotta bait here. I was out diggin’ worms all night. I need to catch as many as I can before this dumb contest is over if I want a chance to win. I saw that snobby British dude lugging around a Seaking that had to have weighed more than I do… If he wins this whole shebang, I’m gonna wrangle him for the deets on what slimy water hole he caught that monster out o-OOH! Ohhhhh I got a nibble!

Ok, time to reel this bad boy in! That’s it, come on, come to mama---YES! Awh, lookit’ you, yer a big fella, aint’cha? A Basculin! Man, I used to catch little fishies like you all the time back home! Now be a good girl and get in the bucket. Atta girl. Tell all your friends, why don’tcha? There’s plenty of room for all of ‘em! This river’s gonna be empty by the time I’m through here, heheh!

One last hurrah for the fishing contest, Mel caught a hefty Basculin!
